Unrest turns deadly in New Caledonia after passage of voting reform

Three people have been killed in New Caledonia as violent protests and looting rock the French Pacific territory after Paris adopted a constitutional reform on voting that angered pro-independence forces. The three deceased were young indigenous Kanak, a spokesman for New Caledonia’s president Louis Mapou told Reuters, adding that the information was provided by police.
